50 minutes work
undone in 15 seconds

What if you were the world’s best baker, but your oven secretly wasn’t heating past 100 degrees?

Dental restorations are a complex art and your best efforts can be quickly undone by the few seconds you rely on your curing light.

Under-cure and you risk debonding, fracture, and discolouration. Cure too long and you risk post-op sensitivity. Both will impact your patients and practice.

You can’t tell if a light is working correctly or if a composite is cured just by looking at it, so you need to find another way.

Technology behind our smart radiometer

Our smart radiometer uses artificial intelligence in combination with our extensive database of light curing data to inform your results. That enables it to measure all major curing lights with accuracy and calculate optimal curing times for any combination of light and material.

Unlike other radiometers, CheckUp can measure different light modes like ramp and pulse, and accounts for active diameter, wavelength, and saturation for maximum accuracy. Combined with our Bluelight CheckUp software and app, this is the most powerful and smartest radiometer available for use every day by dentists.

“CheckUp was a game changer in my office as I was routinely overcuring my composites and risking plural injury. Now I am able to modify my curing times so that they more accurately match the materials in use.”

Dr. Martin Jablow, DMD

Frequently asked questions

› How often should I test my curing lights?

We recommend testing as often as you can, but most dentists find testing weekly to be sufficient. The real question is, how many restorations do you want to put at risk?

Let’s say your light is responsible for curing eight restorations per day and you test it every Monday. One week, something happens to your light on Tuesday morning, which cuts its output in half. If you don’t test again until the following Monday, over 30 restorations could be at risk. The longer you go between tests, the higher that number gets.

› Is CheckUp compatible with all curing lights?

CheckUp is able to measure all major curing light models – over 600 in total. We’re constantly expanding our database of lights too. When a new curing light hits the market, we test it thoroughly before adding it to CheckUp. Learn more about this process by reading how we added the PinkWave curing light to CheckUp.

› Is there a limit to how many lights I can test with CheckUp?

No. You can add all of your lights to the CheckUp app and test them as often as you want.

› Are new lights and materials added to CheckUp as they’re released?

We aim to add all new curing lights and materials to the CheckUp app within 3 months of their release. There are a few factors that can delay this. For instance, if there is insufficient documentation from a manufacturer, or if clarification is required on a manufacturer’s instructions for use. Extra testing may also be required for newer technologies (e.g. PinkWave).

If you find a light or material that is not in CheckUp, you can reach out to our support team, and we’ll do our best to add it to the app as quickly as possible.

› What will CheckUp’s analytics tell me?

CheckUp is much more than a light testing tool. It provides you with exact curing times based on your real-time light output and material requirements. These insights give you renewed confidence in your curing light, every time you test, and ensure you’re using the most efficient combination of lights and materials. As it guides you towards best practices in light curing, CheckUp will improve both the quality of your work, and your patient experience.

Want to get a taste for these insights? Check out our curing time calculator and compare your current curing protocol to what’s recommended by the manufacturer of your lights and materials.

“The American and Canadian Dental Associations recommend regular testing of curing lights. It might seem time-consuming or burdensome, but that investment can mitigate redoing a restoration, or ten restorations.”
